Superconducting transition edge sensors (TES) have been developed for identification of plutonium and minor actinides. We have developed TES with a thick Sn absorber to detect X-rays and -rays. Energy dispersive spectroscopy measurements of an actinide source were conducted by the TES with a Sn absorber to demonstrate the potential for hard X-ray and -ray detection. We also performed a Monte Carlo simulation using EGS5 code in order to analyze the obtained results.

Mask fitting tester "MT-03" is widespread as educational equipment in medical institution and industrial organization. However, there are few examples introduced in order to check the protection performance of purifying respirators in nuclear facilities. In this study, we compared protection factors obtained by MT-03 and those obtained by Mask-man test apparatus "MT-100N". As a result, although the change of measurement result is larger and measured value is higher than that of MT-100N, it was found that protection performance can be checked appropriately.

The horizontal distribution of I in soil within 10km radius from Tokai Reprocessing Plant (TRP) as well as the vertical distribution at 2 km southwest from TRP were measured using the Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) method. As a result, the small amounts of I were observed due to the atmospheric discharge from TRP. It was good agreement with the predicted concentrations in safety assessment. The validity of the diffusion calculation was confirmed in the 10 km radius. Moreover, the results of vertical distribution of I show equivalent value to be a churning layer and decreased rapidly in the depth more than it.

A special monitoring was performed for the persons working at Central Building in Tokai Reprocessing Plant in September, 2013. One person of the monitored subjects was estimated that he took a tiny amount of radioactive materials accidentally.

JAEA nuclear fuel cycle engineering laboratory, surveillance study and practice about risk communication have been performed from 2001. After the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant disaster is carrying out the briefing session (study meeting concerning "radiation in Fukushima Prefecture at "the meeting which replies to the question about radiation", and Ibaraki Prefecture" (the following, study meeting)) about the radiation which thought bidirection as important for Fukushima residents and Ibaraki residents based on the request from various organizations taking advantage of the experience. Here, while introducing the outline and questionnaire result of a study meeting which were performed in Ibaraki, the bidirectional dialog activities "FRIENDLY talk" before the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant disaster are compared, and the opinion tendency of the Ibaraki residents before and behind an accident is considered.
